About:

Joe Westermann

Joe Westermann is a Fort Worth, TX raised teaching artist and theatre administrator, who just completed his BFA in Dramatic Arts and MA in Arts Management and Entrepreneurship at The New School’s College of Performing Arts. He currently serves as the Licensing Coordinator for The 24 Hour Plays. In this role, he oversees their educational outreach endeavors as well. Additionally, for his Masters Degree capstone, Joe created a project called Creative Pathways. This project centered around the creation of a brand new curriculum for a course designed for high school students, which will equip them with the tools and knowledge essential to pursue careers as teaching artists. In order to create this curriculum, three early-career NYC teaching artists were engaged in a collaborative workshop process that took place over two sessions: one to generate ideas and draft lesson plans for the curriculum, and the other to test teach the curriculum (as a group, to each other) and gain feedback from one another. Following the second workshop session, a panel discussion about the process and the field of teaching artistry was held via livestream. Both of these workshop sessions were graciously hosted by Lincoln Center Education and took place in Lincoln Center's Rose Building on March 8 and 22, 2025. Following these workshops, Joe was invited to participate in Lincoln Center’s Summer Forum, joining teaching artists from around the world to share his work, participate in a series of workshops, and celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Teaching Artistry field. Founding Spotlight Cast & Crew alongside a team of incredible people whom he admires greatly has been the greatest gift, and he is honored to get to work with such amazing students summer after summer.
